When custom makes sense, and when it does not

Custom is for products that are genuinely niche: your own system, an unusual shape or a combination nobody else sells.

If you sell something common, you usually do not need a custom configurator. For fencing, roller shutters, window frames and dormers there is already a standard configurator.
