What a veranda configurator does

Plenty of veranda enquiries start with "roughly how much for one about four metres wide?" and end in a site visit to find out. A configurator lets the customer answer the questions first: gutter, colour, roof glazing, size, front and sides, lighting and shading, all on your website.

You receive an enquiry with exact dimensions, the chosen options and a price calculated from your own tables. Send a quote straight away, or book the survey knowing what the customer actually wants.

meetpiloot runs the configurator, the pricing, the quote and the e-signature in one system. Add it to your site with an embed snippet, whether you use WordPress, Shopify or another website builder.

What your customer chooses

The steps follow how a veranda is built. You decide which options to offer and what each step is called.

Gutter
Straight or half-round. A straight gutter can be priced per metre of width.
Colour
Anthracite, black, cream or white, with a render that changes to match.
Roof
Clear, tinted or opal glass, or clear or opal polycarbonate. You set a minimum and maximum size for each roof type.
Size
Width and depth on a plan view, with corners the customer can cut out around an extension or a tree.
Front and sides
Open, glass sliding doors, glass or polycarbonate side infills, fixed walls, sandwich panels or zip screens.
Lighting
Warm or cool white spotlights, with the number worked out from the width.
Shading
Awnings above or below the roof, pleated blinds and screens, priced on the actual size.
Installation
Supply and fit or supply only, with a travel charge based on distance if you use one.

How the price is built

You enter your own price list: a base price, prices by width and depth, and a surcharge for each option. Options that grow with the size, such as side walls, awnings and screens, are priced on the actual width or depth. A cut-out corner comes off pro rata.

So the customer sees a price that matches the quote you send later. Prefer not to show prices? Switch them off. You still see the amount in the enquiry.

From click to signature

  1. Enquiry

The customer finishes the configurator. The enquiry lands in your inbox with dimensions, options and price.

  2. Quote

An indicative quote goes out automatically or after your check, as a PDF in your branding.

  3. Survey

You book the survey in your calendar. The customer gets an invite for their own calendar.

  4. Signed

After the survey you send the final quote. The customer signs online, and you create the order and the deposit invoice.

Working in the UK

For a UK company, quotes and invoices are in pounds with 20% VAT, set from your company’s country. You can change the VAT rate per enquiry, and you can check trade customers’ VAT numbers with HMRC. Customers with a UK address see the configurator, the quote and the signing page in English.

On Pro you can also sell garden rooms, conservatories, canopies and carports as their own type, with the name your customer expects and your own prices behind it.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I put the configurator on my own website?
Yes. You add it with an embed snippet, much like a YouTube video. There are guides for WordPress, Shopify and other website builders. You can also share the configurator as its own link, for example in an ad.
  • Does it use my own prices?
Yes. You enter your own price tables and a surcharge for each option. If you would rather not show prices to customers, switch them off. You still see the amount in the enquiry.
  • Can customers measure up themselves?
With an iPhone, yes. An App Clip opens from the configurator, with nothing to install, and the customer records the dimensions with the camera. It is more precise on an iPhone with LiDAR. On Android the customer types the sizes in. A final survey by you is still wise.
  • Can customers see the veranda in their own garden?
Yes. On an iPhone or iPad the AR view places the chosen veranda in the garden at full size, in the colour and finish the customer picked.
  • Are quotes sent automatically?
You decide. Send them automatically, or check each one first. If you work with an indicative quote, then a survey and then a final quote, you can switch on those two stages.
  • Can I quote in pounds with UK VAT?
Yes. For a UK company, quotes and invoices are in pounds with 20% VAT, set from your company’s country, and you can change the rate per enquiry. Plans for UK businesses are billed in pounds too.
  • Is there a long contract?
No. Plans roll monthly and you can cancel any month.
